Splitting the Difference in Afghanistan

As anyone could have predicted, the President is not going to do anything dramatic about the Afghan war:
Obama Strikes Compromise on Afghan Pullout

President Obama charted a middle course Wednesday . . . . Departure plan will remove 33,000 troops faster than Obama’s commanders requested but more slowly than many of his political allies would like.
How the right wing chatterers can call this deeply moderate man a dangerous radical is beyond me. In many ways his moderation is appealing to me, but when it comes to war I tend to follow the Powell doctrine of all-in or get out, and I think we should be getting out of Afghanistan as fast as we can.
