A Little Late to Get Angry

Jon Lee Anderson posted a tirade about the folly of Bush's Middle East policy today that concludes,
As for those American soldiers asking, “Was our sacrifice in Fallujah worth it?,” one is at a loss about how to reply to the thought that comes to mind this week: No, it really wasn’t. It is time to get angry.
Wouldn't it have more sense to get angry back in 2003, when most of the American elite was cheering on Bush's mad invasion scheme? Where was Jon Lee Anderson then, when people who stood up for peace were mocked as out-of-touch leftist airheads? Anger seems pointless to me now; what we need is some new ideas for how to promote peace and freedom in the world without bombs.
